Taiwan-based Compal Electronics launches innovative therapeutic medical devices 8 April, 2023 Compal Electronics, a Taiwanese electronics company, has announced its expansion into the development of innovative therapeutic medical devices. Compal has launched a new radiofrequency ablation (RFA) system for percutaneous, intraoperative coagulation and ablation of soft tissue, including partial or complete ablation of non-resectable liver lesions and a Bilevel ventilator for chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and respiratory insufficiency caused by central and/or mixed apneas. Cutting-Edge 5G Ultrasound Brings Advanced Medical Solutions to Underserved Areas Press release, ITRI 27 March, 2023 In cooperation with MacKay Memorial Hospital, Compal Electronics, and Techman Robot, ITRI unveiled a remote-operated 5G ultrasound technology. This technology provides remote areas with access to essential medical resources, allowing rural residents to receive abdominal ultrasound checkups without having to travel long distances to urban areas. PharmaEssentia's BESREMi receives approval in Japan 28 March, 2023 PharmaEssentia's new drug BESREMi (Ropeginterferon alfa-2b) for the rare disease polycythemia vera has received approval from Japan's drug regulatory body. Japan is the world's third largest pharmaceutical market, and follows approval from seven countries and regions including the EU and the United States. Taiwanese financial leaders appointed to accelerate transformation of healthcare industry 27 March, 2023 Following the re-election of four key opinion leaders in the fields of health, technology and finance as board of directors in mid-February, IBMI announced on 25 March that it had appointed five influencers from the technology and finance sectors, including Rock Hsu of Kinpo Group, Kuo-Yi Yeh of Inventec, Richard Tsai of Fubon Financial Holding, Eugene Wu of Shin Kong Group and Hong-Tu Tsai of Cathay Financial, as advisors. MetaTech announces regenerative cell ambitions, plans to cooperate with five overseas companies 26 March, 2023 Electronics and biomedical company MetaTech (TW: 3224), announced that since receiving the rights to the autologous cell sheet technology from CellSeed of Japan in 2017, it had made further progress in this field, signing a memorandum of cooperation (MOU) with another Japanese company, Cyfuse. The two parties intend to cooperate in the 3D printing and development of regenerative cells for medical applications. Looking forward, MetaTech intends to cooperate with at least five overseas cell therapy companies this year, aiming to establish itself as an Asian center for GMP cell production. More... TTY Biopharm to market Lipo-AB in the US 25 March, 2023 Lipo-AB, a liposomal version of the antifungal drug Amphotericin B drug produced by TTY Biopharm (TW: 4105), began shipping to the US this year, becoming only the second company in the world to produce a liposomal version of this drug, and symbolizing TTY Biopharm's level of internationalization in both technology and R&D. AmCad BioMed Cooperates with Taipei Harvard Clinic to conduct sleep education seminars 23 March, 2023 Taipei-based AmCad BioMed develops and provides ultrasound equipment to detect obstructive sleep apnea. In response to the World Sleep Day on March 17, AmCad BioMed announced that it had joined hands with Taipei Harvard Clinic to hold a number of sleep education lectures. The theme of this year's World Sleep Day is "Sleep is essential to health", emphasizing that good sleep quality is as important to an individual's health and wellbeing as diet and exercise. Taipei Harvard Clinic's Sleep Clinic reported that nearly one million people in Taiwan suffer from obstructive sleep apnea, but the diagnosis prevalence rate is only 0.49%. TaiGen Enters Exclusive License Agreement with Joincare for TG-1000 in China 22 March, 2023 TaiGen Biotechnology today announces that they have signed an exclusive licensing agreement with Joincare Pharmaceutical Group Industry Co., Ltd., a top 10 China pharmaceutical company, to develop and commercialize TG-1000 in China. TG-1000 is a novel pan-influenza antiviral, which interrupts viral replication and transmission via a cap-snatching mechanism to demonstrate broad-spectrum activity against influenza-A, influenza-B, avian flu H7N9, and Tamiflu-resistant viruses.
