ITRI is a world-leading applied technology research institute with more than 6,000 employees. Development Center for Biotechnology (DCB)
DCB's mission is to facilitate the ongoing growth and development of Taiwan's biotechnology industry by coordinating resources among government, academia and private companies. DCB fosters international partnerships and collaborations with research institutes and global biopharmaceuticals throughout Asia and the world. With over 400 in-house researchers and state-of-the-art facilities, the DCB specializes in developing biologics and small molecule drugs, botanical drugs, as well as technologies required for preclinical testing.
Biotechnology and Pharmaceutical Industries Promotion Office (BPIPO)
BPIPO is a unit of Taiwan’s Ministry of Economic Affairs (MOEA). Services include financial support, investment promotion, stock listing, personnel training and recruitment, R&D collaboration, technology transfer, commercialization, marketing, promotion activities, strategic alliances. BPIPO’s One Stop Service Window provides a comprehensive interactive platform for the overseas biomedical community looking to engage locally by connecting the professional resources and service capacities of various Taiwan government ministries through webpages, email, and social media. This platform employs project management methods and provides 24-hour support.
Taiwan Food and Drug Administration (Taiwan FDA)
Under Taiwan’s Ministry of Health and Welfare (MOHW), the Taiwan FDA is responsible for the regulation, safety and quality of food, drugs, medical devices and cosmetics. 
Academia Sinica
Established in 1928 to promote and undertake scholarly research in the sciences and humanities, Academia Sinica is the preeminent academic institution in Taiwan. Many of its twenty-four research institutes and seven research centers are devoted to the life sciences, including the Institute of Biomedical Sciences, the Agricultural Biotechnology Research Center and the Genomics Research Center.
Agricultural Technology Research Institute (ATRI)
Under Taiwan’s Council of Agriculture (COA), ATRI is tasked with transforming Taiwan’s traditional agricultural sector by strengthening the commercialization and industrialization of agricultural research.
Center for Drug Evaluation (CDE)
Under Taiwan’s Ministry of Health and Welfare (MOHW), the CDE provides regulatory and consultation services to domestic and international biomedical firms and institutes. The CDE also works with the Taiwan FDA to conduct pre- and post-market evaluation of new drugs, API and medical devices.
Metal Industries Research & Development Center (MIRDC)
Located in Kaohsiung, the MIRDC is Taiwan’s leading metals research center and industry promotion body, and works closely with Taiwan’s medical device and materials companies, and is particularly prominent in the local dental implant industry.
National Applied Research Laboratories (NARLabs)
NARLabs conducts research in applied sciences to facilitate the meeting of national science and technology development goals. NARLabs biomedical division offers R&D platforms for medical device development, with its Instrument Technology Research Center (ITRC) a one-stop service platform for medical devices. and customized research one-stop service. The National Laboratory Animal Center (NLAC) of NARLabs supplies high-quality specific pathogen free (SPF) laboratory animals and provides technological platforms, tumor test-related resources and services for oncology, genetic modification, animal-related experimentation, 3D medical imaging, and veterinary applications.
National Health Research Institutes (NHRI)
Under the Ministry of Health and Welfare (MOHW), the NHRI is tasked with advancing biomedical sciences, promoting national and individual health, assisting biotechnology and pharmaceutical industry development, and cultivating local biomedical researchers.
Medical and Pharmaceutical Industry Technology and Development Center (PITDC)
The PITDC conducts research and development in the pharmaceutical and medical devices sectors, and provides related technology assistance and services to the local biomedical sector.
